| Description | Correspondence, drafts and final reports as well as comments on the report of Joint Working Party of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Royal College of Nursing and British Psychological Society to formulate ethical guidelines for the conduct of programmes of behaviour modification in the National Health Service. The Working Party was set up by the Secretary of State for Health Sir Keith Joseph as a response to an investigation into medical and nursing practices at Napsbury Hospital in 1973 - its first meeting was on 12 March 1974. It reported in 1979 and after changes the final report was published by the HMSO in 1980.

The Working Party was chaired by Oliver Zangwill (one of the representatives of the British Psychological Society) and included D E Blackman, J Dovey, M Edwards-Evans, J C Gardner, J N Hall, W A Heaton-Ward, M W Jackson, C C Kiernan, I S Kreeger, F J Lewis, P D Mellor, C P Seager and P Whiffen.
