| Description | Typed and handwritten text of J.C.Kenna's conversation with R.J.Bartlett (1879-1980) MSc, ARCS on November 27th 1953 at Birkbeck College and related correspondence
Also included is a handwritten revised and expanded version of the 1953 text by R.J.Bartlett dated September 8-9 1968.
The text is in the third person and includes descriptions of R.J.Bartlett's early school and college days, the Royal College of Science, his time at Raffles Institute Singapore, his early background in chemistry, studying psychology at King's College, his time at King's then Birkbeck, Aveling, Dr Mace, his students including R.B.Cattell, L.S.Hearnshaw and J.C.Raven.
R.J.Bartlett was Director of the Psychological Department at Bethlem Hospital until the NHS took over.
From 1919 Bartlett was Assistant Director under William Brown as Director, and from 1921 Director.
In addition Bartlett was Lecturer in Normal Psychology to nurses at St. Barts Hospital (no dates) and President of the BPS 1946-1947. |
