Date1955 -1999
Extent2-boxes, 3-records boxes
DescriptionThe audio archive is named after John C. Kenna, the British Psychological Society's first Honorary Archivist, in recognition of his pioneering work in gathering and collecting early audio recordings.

From 1956 to 1976 John C. Kenna recorded (on reel-to-reel tape and phonograph) many interviews with well-known psychologists of the day, and it is these early recordings, now transferred to digital disk that form the heart of the current audio archive collection.

The original recording formats include; phonographs, reel-to-reel magnetic tapes and audio cassettes which are stored in the BPS London audio-visual archives.

The British Psychological Society's Oral History Project, started in 2005, is on-going and complements the older recordings.
