Description | Folder contains a report of the British Psychological Society Council 'Working Party on Public Relations', established May 1982 to consider short, medium and long term aspects of public relations - the background of this was the controversial push towards registration, need to lobby Parliament, cuts in public services affecting psychologists posts, reorganisation of and cuts to the SSRC [Social Sciences Research Council]; a directive on teacher training and recruitment of social sciences put out by the Secretary of State and cuts in the higher education sector. The Working Party was chaired by Professor Anthony Gale.
Appendices include possible job description for an External Relations Office; 'Unfulfilled External Relations Tasks'; comments on public relations activities of the American Psychological Association; proposal to establish a division for teachers of psychology; policy issues and 'A framework for Reviewing the Activities of the BPS.'
