Description1 October 2014: PR14 100 HOPC lecture: How psychology developed after the First World War
The development of psychology during and after the First World War will be discussed at the annual ‘Stories of Psychology’ symposium organised by the British Psychological Society’s History of Psychology Centre (HOPC) at the University of London on Wednesday 8 October 2014.

6 October 2014: PR14 101 Lib Dem fringe event. Reducing Crime: How do we know what really works? The British Psychological Society, Sense about Science and NatCen Social Research, with the support of the Alliance for Useful Evidence, are hosting a panel debate on crime reduction at the Liberal Democrats’ Autumn Conference on Tuesday 7 October.

7 October 2014: PR14 102 world mental health day with RCPBMJ. World Mental Health Day 2014. Call for more funding for mental health research. Psychologists and psychiatrists mark World Mental Health Day (10 October 2014) with a call for improved funding for research into serious mental health conditions, including schizophrenia.

8 October 2014: PR14 103 statement on NHS wait for mental health services announcement. British Psychological Society statement. Deputy Prime Minister’s announcement on maximum wait for NHS mental health services. The British Psychological Society welcomes today's announcement by the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg that maximum waiting times will be introduced for those accessing NHS mental health services.

8 October 2014: PR14 104 BJP draft Male_attractiveness. Men with popular female partners are more attractive to young women. Men are perceived as more attractive by young women if they have a popular female partner.

20 October 2014: PR14 105 Book Award release 2014. The winners of the British Psychological Society’s Book Award

22 October 2014: DCP Wales Francis and Andrews media release draft copy: Cardiff conference highlights psychological approaches to compassionate healthcare

27 October 2014: PR14 106 Equality Award. Clinical Psychologist receives Award for Promoting Equality of Opportunity. Professor Til Wykes, from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London, is the recipient of the British Psychological Society’s (BPS) 2014 Award for Promoting Equality of Opportunity for her part in championing the active role of mental health service users in research.

30 October 2014: PR14 107 DOP Implementing culture change_NHS. The practical steps required to implement culture change in the NHS is the subject of a new report launched today, Thursday 6 November 2014 (8am to 12pm), by the British Psychological Society’s (BPS) Division of Occupational Psychology (DOP).
