03 July 2019 BPS welcomes funding announcement for psychology research - release promoting Research England announcement that Psychology research in British universities is to receive the same level of funding, under the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021, as research in other sciences and clinical medicine for the first time. BPS Chief Excutive Sarb Bajwa welcomes development;

04 July 2019 Winners of our I’m a Scientist zones announced - release announcing the winners of the two BPS-sponsored zones of the June 'I'm a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here!' education initiative. Robert Dempsey, senior lecturer in psychology and mental health at Staffordshire University, won the Mental Health zone and Alex Lloyd, a PhD student at Royal Holloway and Birkbeck in the University of London, won the Influence zone;

05 July 2019 Help us support you through the 2021 REF - release promoting a BPS survey on the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF). Survey aimed to support academics and academic departments navigate process;

05 July 2019 Six BPS journals have increased their impact factor - release promoting figures released by Claritive Analytics on readship and impact of BPS Journals. The British Journal of Psychology has seen a sharp increase in its impact factor and is now ranked at number 20 among 137 multidisciplinary psychology journals across the world. British Journal of Clinical Psychology, British Journal of Educational Psychology, British Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, British Journal of Social Psychology and the Psychology and Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice all saw a rise in impact;

08 July 2019 The European Congress of Psychology is coming to Brighton - release announcing the the 2023 European Congress of Psychology will take place in Brighton. BPS chosen to host the event by the European Federation of Psychologists' Associations;

11 July 2019 Embattled school receives award for commitment to inclusive education - release announcing that Head Teacher Sarah Hewitt-Clarkson and staff at the Anderton Park Primary School in Birmingham have won the BPS ‘Community Engagement Award’ for their commitment to inclusive education at the 2019 Psychology of Sexualities Conference. Hewitt-Clarkson praised for teaching equality and challenging gender stereotypes in the face of protests and national media coverage. Award conferred by the BPS Sexualities Section;

11 July 2019 Do you know someone who has moved educational psychology forward? - release calling for nominations for the Division of Educational and Child Psychology Award for Outstanding Contributions to Educational and Child Psychology;

12 July 2019 Bringing psychology to MPs and peers - release calling for nominations for the Joint Postgraduate Award with the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology. Award provides an opportunity for a postgraduate psychologist to be seconded to the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) to assist in providing objective briefing material for MPs and Peers on a psychological topic;

12 July 2019 Congratulations to Nicola Gale, the new treasurer of EFPA - release announcing that former BPS President Nicola Gale has been elected as the new treasurer of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) at its General Assembly in Moscow

19 July 2019 BPS Review of the Year 2018 - release promoting the publication of the BPS Review of the Year 2018, a report which gives an overview of the BPS's achievements and how objectives were delivered. Document also includes an independent auditor's report, a consolidated statement of financial activities and statements of cash flows;

22 July 2019 News from the Annual General Meeting - release outlining important outcomes from 2019 BPS AGM. Dr Hazel McLaughlin, past chair of the Division of Occupational Psychology, elected as President Elect for 2019/20 and will serve as President of the Society in 2020/21. The AGM also saw the election of Roxane Gervais as the Society’s new treasurer. Four members of the Board of Trustees were elected: Christina Buxton, Esther Mary Cohen-Tovee, Adam Jowett and Clifford Stott;

23 July 2019 Prevention green paper doesn’t go far enough - release commenting on a Government Green Paper on Prevention. BPS Chief Executive Sarb Bajwa argues that the paper is not strident enough in tackling the social determinants of poor health;

24 July 2019 Two BPS members elected Fellows of the British Academy - release announcing that BPS Fellow Professor Matthew Lambon Ralph and chartered member Professor Susan Golombok have been elected to the prestigious position of Fellow of the British Academy;

30 July 2019 Past chair of BPS Ethics Committee honoured at European Congress - release promoting the conferment of the Robert A. Roe Award on Dr Tony Wainwright, past BPS Ethics Committee Chair, at the European Congress of Psychology in Moscow;

31 July 2019 A message from your newly elected representatives - release containing messages from David Murphy, BPS President for 2019/2020, Dr Hazel McLaughlin, BPS President for 2020/2021 and Dr Roxanne Gervais, Honorary Treasurer. The representatives thank BPS members for electing them at the BPS AGM.
