13 August 2020 A new guide to help young people understand vocies, visions and distressing beliefs - Release promoting a guidance document aimed at teenagers and young people entitled 'Understanding Psychosis: Voices, Visions and Distressing Beliefs: A guide for young people and their supporters. This document, composed by the BPS Division of Clinical Psychology, is a scaled down version of a previous document 'Understanding Psychosis and Schizophrenia'. The guidance aims to give practical support to young people dealing with mental illness;
17 August 2020 BPS collaborates on global statement on importance of psychology - Release promoting statement 'Humanity Needs Psychology', a collaborative declaration from nearly 60 psychological associations from around the world, highlighting the contribution of psychology to society. Hazel McLaughlin welcomes this international collaboration;
18 August 2020 'Emotionally regulate before you educate' urges BPS - Release promoting a guidance document devised by the Division of Educational and Child Psychology Northern Ireland Branch entitled 'Emotionally regulate before you education'. Document provides assistance for supporting the mental wellbeing of staff and pupils upon the return of schools in Northern Ireland following lockdown;
18 August 2020 New BPS guidance on giving remote therapy to new parents - Release promoting a Division of Clinical Psychology’s Faculty of Perinatal Psychology guidance document. Guidance outlinesspecific considerations for working with pregnant women and primary care-givers of 0–2 year olds, the document also covers the breadth of support perinatal and parent-infant psychologists are trained to deliver, including individual, couple, group, and parent-infant interventions. It also explores working with people who have experienced trauma during the perinatal period, and offers advice on self-care for the therapist;

20 August 2020 BPS calls for urgent action to protect young people's futures - Release promoting a guidance document from the BPS Covid-19 Working Differently task group entitled 'Supporting people into learning, training and work'. The guidance document offers psychology professionals advice on how to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people, and aid them into productive work or training following the uncertainty of Covid-19; 20 August 2020 Call for the views of students and academic staff on the impact of Covid-19 - Release promoting two Covid-19 impact surveys, one for students and one for academic staff. These surveys seek the views of these groups on the topic of returning to university following Covid-19 lockdown;
28 August 2020 Returning to school after lockdown - Release promoting a series of guidance documents from the BPS intended to support children and young people in their return to school. These documents include 'The Psychology of play' and 'Back to school transition: the importance of playtime' short films and three guidance documents.

28 August 2020 Advice on the psychological impact of Covid-19 for people living with HIV - Release promoting a guidance document produced by the BPS Division of Clinical Psychology’s Faculty for HIV and Sexual Health. Document provides assistance for psychology professionals working with HIV positive people who may be concerned with interruptions to healthcare and who may experience increased stress and trauma.
28 August 2020 BPS to offer end-point assessment - Release announcing that the BPS has been approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education as an End-point Assessment Organisation. This area of BPS activity will be known as 'BPS Assessment and Awards Limited'. The first apprenticeship that the BPS will assess will be the Level 6 Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP), an occupation within NHS England Improving Access to Psychological Therapies. |
