Responses (A-H surnames only] when the Press Committee asked BPS those on the list in 1985 which areas of psychology they felt the Committee should be trying to publicise, past experiences and current attitude to the media if contacted and which aspects of their own expertise they felt to be worth promoting. Includes also some questionnaires developed by the Social Psychology section also in 1985 as to their interests - [responded to select from a list of subjects provided], whether involved in research and whether confident to talk to the media. AdminHistoryIn the mid 1970s the Standing Press Committee started working on a key word list of subject and contacts in order to provide a useful and pertinent contact to the press on any aspect of psychology, despite a grant to complete this project by 1976 - it was in draft form only. The project was revived in 1984 and all of those on the list were contacted and asked whether they were still willing to be available to talk to the press if required. The results of the letters asking also about members experiences up to that point highlight a complex relationship that psychologists had to the press Attempts were made to enter the keyword list in the BPS Computer in 1985 and it was realised that the terms needed updating and standardising. Media training was given to a number on the list as well as distribution to all on the list of a Press Committee leaflet 'Being Interviewed - Hints and Tips' in 1988 when the list was updated.
