DescriptionReport of a Standing Committee of the Association of Child Psychotherapists, British Association of Social Workers, British Psychological Society and Royal College of Psychiatrists which was convened in 1878 to discuss issues arising out of a paper 'The Role, Responsibilities and Work of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist' published in the Bulletin of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in July 1978.

Includes The Concept and Value of Multidisciplinary Work, Relationships and Organisation Within The Team (the need to understand the sources of stress, changing professional attitudes, organisational factors, the issue of leadership), Autonomy and Responsibility, Training, Salaries and Career Structures and Summary and Recommendations, Members of the Committee (Dilys Daws, Sanda Ramsden, Linda Binnington, Zelda Ravid, Stephen Cogill, Geoffrey Herbert, Dora Black and Rory Nicol), GMC Guidelines, Minimal formal training structures (and dissent from the psychologists as to the inclusion of training structures); proposed diploma in child guidance/ child psychiatry, salary scales, outline of the development of the social work develop.
