AdminHistoryProposed in 1983 the working party was convened in 1985 and reported in November of that year. The terms of reference were
a) to ascertain what redress the public may have from negligence or professional malpractice at the hands of psychologists in the UK;
b) to ascertain what current forms of legal protection are available to psychologists in the event that they are litigated against by aggrieved parties, institutions or agencies; and also in the event of their requiring legal representation or protective advice in Court, tribunal or other relevant situations.
c) to ascertain what is the responsibility of employers to provide such cover or legal assistance in both applied and academic settings;
d) to consider whether this is adequate and in the best interests of the public and the profession.
The working party included David F Clark, Paul Britton, David J Cooke, John N Hall and Roger A Litton.
