AdminHistoryOn 6th May the President of the British Psychological Society wrote to Virginia Bottomley, Secretary of State for Health expressing concerning that in recent cases including the 'Staffordshire Pin-Down Affair' and Leicestershire Frank Beck Case that psychological therapies were cited as a defence when non psychologist staff especially in social service settings who are untrained or partically untrained are attempting to use psychological techniques which can be dangerous. A meeting was held with with the BPS (Pat Franksih, Ruth Nissim and Mary McMurran) and Department of Health officials on 30 July 1993.
