AdminHistory | Lord Halsbury was President of the Research Defence Society. The bill sought to revise the 1876 Cruelty to Animals Act. The Select Committee extensively revised the bill but it did not gain government support or parliamentary time and so was unsuccessful. The following year a Laboratory Animals Protection Bill was proposed. An Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act ASPA came into law in 1986. An Animal Welfare Act was passed in 2006. |
