AdminHistory | Community Health Councils were established in 1974 with the aim of representing the consumer [patient] in local health services. In 1986 the Association published 'Patients' Charter: Guidelines for Good Practice'. In 1991 the government revived the concept of a Patients Charter which set out rights of service standards for NHS patients although the government had adopted the language of the Association the actual proposals were given a mixed reception by the ACHCEW and other consumer groups. |
