AdminHistoryIn March 1985 The DES published Science 5-16 A Statement of Policy' which includes a central objective of a national policy for science in secondary education.

Professor Roger Blin-Stoyle Chairman of the School Curriculum Development Committee convened, in July 1986, a meeting of representatives of various interested parties including the SCDE, SEC, the examining groups, HMDI and the DES to discuss how the GCSE might best support developments in the secondary science curriculum.
