Date1990
Extent1 folder
Physical Description1 folder
DescriptionBritish Psychological Society press release and typescript of evidence prepared by the Division of Criminological and Legal Psychology for the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the convictions arising out of the bomb attacks in Guildford and Woolwich in 1974. The evidence focused on the wider issues rather than those relating to the Guildford and Woolwich cases including the conditions surrounding false confessions, controls against false confessions, pre-trial investigation procedures in the interrogation room, the training of police officers, the right to silence, and procedures for the review of cases.

Similar but expanded evidence was given to the BPS/001/11/04/03/05/13 Royal Commission on Criminal Justice (Runciman) which built on the work of the May Inquiry.
