AdminHistoryThe Committee on the Ethics of Gene Therapy was set up in December 1989 and reported in 1992. The report said that gene therapy should, for the time being, be treated
as research, and will be subject to the same constraints as all other research
on patients; and that treating fatal, inherited diseases by gene therapy poses no new ethical problems.
