AdminHistoryIn 1985 the BPS Press Committee started to investigate whether the facilities at Sheffield University facilities could be used for TV training. James Thompson was the TV responsibility Holder reporting the the BPS Information Committee. Thompson organised two tranches of training at Middlesex Hospital 1989-1990 (feedback discussed at Standing Committee meetings BPS/001/11/01/05/06 and BPS/001/01/05/05).

It was agreed at a meeting of the Information Committee 17 December 1990 that the spokespeople were to be James Thompson, John Toplis, Jane Ussher and John Morton. A letter was sent to all the main television production companies and news channel informing them of the trained and available spokespeople in January 1991 but 6 months later none of the spokespeople had been contacted. In 1993 it was agreed to subsume the role of TV responsibility holder into that of press officer (honorary).
