AdminHistory | The BPSG Group was originally conceived as a successor of the Standing Committee on Publications. It ran in parallel with a Journals Group. Both groups were created after a restructure in 1983 and reported to the F&GP [Finance and General Purposes Committee]. The BPSG took over the role of considering the practical elements and proposals of publishing books, reports and other material which were under the auspices of the Standing Committee of Publications Business SubCommittee. A publications manager was employed to manage this function. Publication proposals were submitted or commissioned and then if supported sample chapters and background on the author was requested. These were read by members of the group or other reviewers who then sent in written comments for the Group to discuss at their meetings.
In 1998 two subgroups were formed the Psychometrics Publishing Group and Multimedia Publishing Group.
The BPSG was superseded by the Editorial Support Group in c. 2001 when a contract was signed with Wiley to publish BPS books. |
