Description | Agenda, minutes, correspondence and reports of a group to review the membership magazine, Bulletin of the British Psychological Society - includes discussions of new publication name, design, costs,,job descriptions of the managing editor and academic editors, and advertising proposals and policy .
The Bulletin had been in existence since 1948, however by 1986 it was felt that the design and content of the Bulletin was very 'tidy but simple' - the result of previous economic stringencies and with the upcoming new charter [1987) it was hoped that the Society would have a more outward looking stance as well as a better image for internal communications. Following a request of the British Psychological Society Finance and General Purposes Committee the Standing Committee on Communications appointed Mary Boyle (conveyor), Ray Bull, Chris Leach (chair of Journals Committee), Michele Benjamin (Editor of the Bulletin), Stephen White (Director of Communications) and Allan Sakne to consider the matter. The Bulletin was relaunched as The Psychologist in January 1988 and came under the Psychologist Editorial SubCommittee later Psychologist Editorial Committee [PEC], the successor to the Implementation Group. This in itself was replaced by the Psychologist Policy Committee in 1995 [PPC]. |
