AdminHistoryThe Psychologist is the in-house magazine for members of the British Psychological Society. The first issue was January 1988 - it was a successor to the Bulletin of the British Psychological Society [previously Quarterly Bulletin of the British Psychological Society] 1948-1987.

1. The Editorial Sub-Committee was a SubCommittee of the Standing Committee on Communications until December 1989. It acted as a policy making body on all issues regarding The Psychologist; act as an adviser to the Managing Editor and the Honorary Editors; act as a 'reviewer' of past issues of 'The Psychologist'

2. The Psychologist Editorial Committee succeeded the Editorial Sub-Committee and reported to Council. Assistant Editors were responsible for ideas and some copy for features, reviews, art work etc. There was also a team of Associate Editors who were responsible for generating and reviewing academic articles. The differentiation between academic and feature articles was gradually blurred.

The Assistant Editors became Associate Editors in 1995 after the review of the Committee in 1993-1994 and a staff member Stephen White became the sole Assistant Editor. The PEC lost its editorial function and its name changed to reflect this.

3. The Psychologist Policy Committee PPC May 1995-2010] replaced the Psychologist Editorial Committee PEC. Renamed
