25 February 2005 Psychologist Policy Committee minutes and agenda only. Includes approval of Nik Chmiel to serve as Committee representative for the Publications and Communications Board, potential candidates for Student representative, proposed changes to The Psychologist policy after controversy following the publishing of a letter on homosexuality, measures for improving quality of the magazine, aspects of the Science Writer prize, proposed changes to Contents page, proposed changes to make-up of the PPC including length of term for members and appointment process, reports from representative and the resignation of Catherine Swann.

10 June 2005 Psychologist Policy Committee minutes and agenda only. Includes welcome to George Koulieris as new co-opted student representative to the Committee, extension of Ken Gilhooly's Committee membership, proposed changes to make-up of the PPC, current membership of Committee to be subsumed into new structure, timetable for implementation of changes agreed, ideal qualities of prospective new members discussed, proposed new organisation of member network notices and changes to the diary page, issues arising around compliant regarding the handling of an article submission including the PPC complaint policy and the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts, review of past issues, discussion on submitted article on smacking and a potential reader survey.

Includes nominations to the PPC Board, the make-up and function of the PPC, agreement of change in complaints procedure, reflection on complaint regarding Ministry of Defence advertisement, complaint agreed to be groundless, market research questionnaire for BPS members, new web only articles and the editorial policy applied to them, change of classification of GCSE from a humanities subject to a science, BPS meetings budgets and manuscript update. Includes copy of Ministry of Defence advertisement which prompted a complaint, advertisement concerns aircraft aptitude testing.

AdminHistoryThe Psychologist is the in-house magazine for members of the British Psychological Society. The first issue was January 1988 - it was a successor to the Bulletin of the British Psychological Society [previously Quarterly Bulletin of the British Psychological Society] 1948-1987.

1. The Editorial Sub-Committee was a SubCommittee of the Standing Committee on Communications until December 1989. It acted as a policy making body on all issues regarding The Psychologist; act as an adviser to the Managing Editor and the Honorary Editors; act as a 'reviewer' of past issues of 'The Psychologist'

2. The Psychologist Editorial Committee succeeded the Editorial Sub-Committee and reported to Council. Assistant Editors were responsible for ideas and some copy for features, reviews, art work etc. There was also a team of Associate Editors who were responsible for generating and reviewing academic articles. The differentiation between academic and feature articles was gradually blurred.

The Assistant Editors became Associate Editors in 1995 after the review of the Committee in 1993-1994 and a staff member Stephen White became the sole Assistant Editor. The PEC lost its editorial function and its name changed to reflect this.

3. The Psychologist Policy Committee PPC May 1995-date [2018] replaced the Psychologist Editorial Committee PEC
