AdminHistory | The British Psychological Society Publications Committee started in 1953 was replaced by a Standing Committee on Publications in 1955 which lasted until 1983 when three new intersecting Committees were set up under the umbrella of the Standing Committee on Publications 1) Journals Committee - similar in constitution to the Standing Committee, with Senior Editors of the Society's Journals Advising on Journal Policy and Editorial Considerations. This Committee ran until 2004 when Journals publishing was subcontracted to Wiley
2) Books and Special Projects Group [BPSG] [BPS/001/01/01/01] - running in parallel with the Journals Committee and considerings books and non-book publishing projects. The Committee ran until 2001 when books publishing was subcontracted to Wiley
3) General Committee - constituted from members of the other two groups with Special Responsibility for commercial policy and liaison with Council and other Bodies. The general coordinating Committee did not really take off. In 1988 it was agreed that the General Committee be disbanded and that the Books and Special Projects Group and the Journals Group have the status of standing committees.
In 2000 a Publications and Communications Directorate was formed under a Board. The Board was disbanded in 2012.
