AdminHistoryThe British Psychological Society wanted to achieve statutory compulsory registration for psychologists and as a preliminary step to doing that they changed their own constitution (which was in the form of a charter gained in 1965) in order to allow for a grade of membership called Chartered Member and to maintain a register of Chartered Members. These changed were voted on by members and then submitted to the privy council.
