DescriptionSubSeries contains governance material relating to the British Psychological Society including minute books of the British Psychological Society (BPS) Council meetings 1917-1974

A BPS Council replaced the Executive Committee of the British Psychological Society (BPS) in 1919. The governing body of the Society became the Board of Trustees in 2002 (taking over some the roles of the Council, Board of Directors (which had replaced the Finance and General Purposed Committee which between 1964 and 2000 prepared papers for Council). A Representative Council of Members met annually. In 2018 a Senate was created as a way of Members deciding organisational and policy priorities

See also BPS/001/4 material relating to the British Psychological Society's (BPS) Board sincluding initially a Professional Affairs Board (PAB) and a Scientific Affairs Board (SAB) 1971-1996. These Boards were set up in December 1973 as a result of a report 'The Reorganisation of the Society' published in March 1972. the idea being that they would take over much of the work previously done by the Council including responding to consultations.
