DescriptionCorrespondence between the British Psychological Society Scientific Affairs Board and subsystems [Member Networks] concerning ideas and authors for Society position statements. Suggestions included 'Health and Safety Promotion (After Kings Cross)', Homosexuality, Electronic Office/ Home Working, Ageing, Poll Tax and the Mentally Handicapped, TV Violence, Education and Ethnic Minorities, Child Abusers, Firearms Licences, Diet and Eating Disorders, Psychoactive Drugs and Disasters. Includes also copy of guidelines for 'The Preparation of Statements by the Society' (Colin Newman) and guidelines for 'Writing Parliamentary Briefing Papers' (Stephen White)

The BPS Standing Committee on Communication had suggested that the Society produce more position statements in order to both promote policies and respond to consultations and produced a shortlist in January 1988 and asked Boards to take a lead in commissioning and checking content
