AdminHistoryIt was agreed in 1974 to computerize The British Psychological Society's membership and accounts systems. A bureau service was used until January 1979 when an in-house system was installed at a cost of £60,000. The first report using the word processing function was the report on users of Corporal Punishment in Schools. Data-Rite machine language was used. Additional hardware was installed in 1980 and a microcomputer purchased in 1982. Jacquard was used for membership records.

In 1984 more equipment was purchased [from Interactive Data Machines Ltd] at a cost of £63,000
