TitleBPS Division of Occupational Psychology DOP and Occupational Guidance Advisers Register (OGA) 1978-1989
Date1978-1989
Extent3 folders
DescriptionIn 1978 the British Psychological Society BPS Division of Occupational Psychology proposed to the Professional Affairs Board producing a publically available 'List of Approved Occupational Guidance Advisers' to fill an enquiry gap previously filled by the NIIP National Institute of Industrial Psychology which had closed in 1976. The original proposal which was to include members and non members - foundered on specifications on qualification and experience and also worries about legal ramifications of any complaints. The proposal was revived in 1980 for DOP members only who had to abide by the Division's Code of Conduct.

The Division also published membership lists [See BPS/002/2/05/07/01] 1978-1984
Includes papers proposing the registers 1978; 1980

Two sets of typescript applications (Name, work address and telephone number) alphabetical within geographical region order, '79' and '80' possible indicated the although it also includes handwritten forms (stamped Oct-Nov 1989) indicating information above and whether want to be included in Occupational Guidance Advisers [sic] [list] and/or 'consulting occupational psychologists [list].

This project was superseded by the Directory of Advisors launched November 1991 [See BPS/001/20/02/01/03]
