| AdminHistory | The Psychology of Women (PoWS) Section was set up as a subsection of the British Psychological Society in 1988 to:
Bring together everyone with an interest in the Psychology of Women
Provide a forum for the Psychology of Women in research, teaching and professional practice
Increase awareness and action around gender and inequality issues within the British Psychological Society , the Psychology profession, and the teaching of Psychology.
The PoWS is open to all members of the British Psychological Society. The majority of members are women who work in the various areas within psychology: clinical, educational, social, developmental, health, occupational, and lesbian & gay psychology.
Later renamed BPS Psychology of Women and Equalities Section (PoWES)
