The report is concerned with the operating of various selection procedures on HMS Osprey, evaluating some training methods in place. These include ear training, as well as reduction of boredom, and the effects of fatigue on the alertness of individuals. The report goes into detail on the selection and training of H.S.D.s, outlining new tests, including the Scientific Information Test. Selection of S.D.O.s is also outlined, taking into consideration Sea Experience of the intake group. This relationship between experience and performance is outlined in a table. The validity of the selection test battery is also reviewed. The report is supplemented by a technical note, which delves into the pre-selection tests and the importance of additional staff.
