DescriptionReport titled 'A General Classification Test: with Notes on Capt. Piddington's Memorandum.' (no. 62) by Philip E. Vernon.
The report outlines considerations related to using a battery of tests of ability to evalute the trainng potential of new recruits. Notably, a sum of Matrix, Bennett, Arithmetic, Squares and Verbal tests is considered most accurate, exceeding the performance of Matrix as a stand alone test. However, the report highlights the importance of retaining the Matrix tests, as it is able to test ability regardless of education level. The report then details statistical procedures involving in administering and calculating the battery score. The text concludes with important remarks regarding the time required to administer the tests, as well as briefly discusses some shortcommings of using Temperament Questions.
