Description | Report titled 'The Selection of Ratings for Coastal Forces.' by Philip E. Vernon. The report reviews an investigation carried out on Coastal Force Officers, with use of tests currently applied for new entrants, in an effort to review whether the test results align with overall performance. The impact of age is discussed, and the average scores are presented. The findings of the investigation then underwent mutliple comparisons with performance and efficiency of other groups, and the report concludes that the predictive power of the tests are much improved when demographic data is also taken into consideration on intake. The report reviews other factors which may potentially impact the test predictive power, such as fighting qualities, temperamental differences, active service, background and occupation, as well as education and leadership experience. Finally, personal interests and their impact on the test results is discussed. The report concludes with a list of hints to drafting officers. |
