DescriptionReport titled 'S.P. Test Follow-Up Report No. 5A.' (no. 23) by Philip E. Vernon.
The report is subtitled 'S.P. Tests and Efficiency of Small-Craft Ratings. A group of men completed the SP Tests 1, 3 and 4. Their efficiency was evaluated through a series of questions outlined in the report. The wide age range of the group is firstly discussed and compared to the test results. The results for each test were then compared with the evaluated efficiency. Notably, the report states that due to group differences, it can be assumed that higher intelligence reflects in greater efficiency under pressure, compared to lower intelligence. The report then outlines the impact of temperamental qualities, as well as whether the trainee volunteered into service or was drafted. Family and occupational background of the cohort is discussed, alongside education and leadership experience.
