DescriptionReport titled 'Observations on the Determination of Minimum Test Standings.' (no. 131) by Philip E. Vernon.
The report is concerned with the practical methods for determining the minimum standard for entry performance tests. This is important as it allows for more appropriate selection of trainees likely to pass the course. The statistical solution for this problem is described in detail, and is then applied to the experimental group used for the present investigation. However, both the present method and an alternative have been found to contain numerous flaws and be not accurate enough to be applied in practice. Summary and conclusions are presented at the end of the report.
