ActivitySigmund Freud was born in Freiberg, Moravia. He was educated in Vienna and studied medicine at the University of Vienna. He founded psychoanalysis and created a new approach to the understanding of the human personality. After the first world war Freud concentrated on the application of his theories to history, art, literature and anthropology. In 1923 he published 'The Ego and the Id'. He left Vienna in 1938 for London with his wife and daughter Anna after the Nazis annexed Germany. Freud died in London aged 83.
