AdminHistoryThe One World Trust is an independent think tank that conducts research, develops recommendations and advocates for reform to make policy and decision-making processes in global governance more accountable to the people they affect now and in the future, and to ensure that international laws are strengthened and applied equally to all.

Established in 1951 by a group of UK Parliamentarians,. When they first came together in 1947, the founders of the Trust shared concerns about the rise of nuclear armament, the need to rebuild societies, and a still fragile framework of international law and institutions after World War II. They founded, as one of the first of its kind the All-Party Parliamentary Group for World Government to promote the awareness and engagement of Parliamentarians in global governance, and to help the emerging United Nations and other global institutions to become democratic, accountable and transparent.

The One World Trust was soon after set up as a separate charity to promote research and educate the public about developments in relation global institutions and policy. While fully independent of the Group in its governance, funding, research and advocacy, the Trust continues to offer support to the APPGWG with the Director of the Trust acting as Honorary Clerk to the Group, and co-ordinator of its activities in Parliament.
