Description | The file contains 9-handwritten notebooks relating to thoughts, ideas and matters concerning Psychology.
Also included are a couple of children's notebooks and diaries.
The notebooks are:
VALEN/1/3/1 Slim Black Notebook half-size, with C.W.Valentine's signature to the first page and entitled 'Commonplace Book', 1916-?
VALEN/1/3/2 Black leather notebook, with C.W.Valentine, Downing College in ink on the first page, entitled 'Notes of Lectures on Physiology by Mr Widdicombe' undated
VALEN/1/3/3 Black cloth 3/4 size notebook with C.W.Valentine, Downing College in ink on the first page, entitled 'Questions in Ethics'
VALEN/1/3/4 Black cloth notebook, numbered in ink 1- 139, containing handwritten notes concerning Philosophy, with a compliment slip from St Martin's College to Lovie tipped in towards the front
VALEN/1/3/5 Green cloth notebook, with C.W.Valentine, Downing College in ink on the first cover page, mostly handwritten notes concerning logic, numbered 21 to 105
VALEN/1/3/6 Brown patterned notebook with a pink spine which is numbered VI. Inside the cover are two handwritten documents. The first is a handwritten story entitled 'The Rook and the Sheep' signed by F.Valentine and dated June 8th, 1927. The second is an undated and unsigned two page handwritten account of various dreams and stories apparently written by a child. The whole notebook appears to be a diary of a child study case. Various loose children's handwritten documents and drawings are tipped in on various pages .
VALEN/1/3/7 Maroon cloth notebook , numbered 5-73 notes on philosophy which begins with Hume and ends with 4th. Autonomy
VALEN/1/3/8 -Black leather notebook, with C.W.Valentine, Downing College in ink on the first page and entitled 'Lectures on Elements of Philosophy by Dr.MacTaggart'. Tipped in on the first page is a handwritten page entitled 'Outlines of English History from Roman Britain to the Present Time'Numbered 9-135
VALEN/1/3/9 Navy blue cloth printed book with a pasted S. Martin's Valentine Library sticker pasted in on the first page.The book is entitled 'Essays and Papers' by C.W.Valentine, 1911-1914
VALEN/1/3/10 Brown patterned notebook entitled in ink 'Notes on Children from 1st part 8-9 onwards, 2nd Part (on HB) etc.. a handwritten document with drawings and a word lists is tipped in at the back page of the notebook
Also include in the file are two pages of Birmingham University headed paper concerning expenses and a list of figures |
