DescriptionGroup b/w print of 4-individuals (seated behind a rather large desk on stage) at the opening ceremony of the London Conference on the Scientific Study of Mental Deficiency, held at the British Medical Association HQ, Tavistock Square, London 24-28 July 1960.

The Conference was the first-ever multi-disciplinary International Conference on Mental Deficiency (Clarke 1991) and was sponsored by the American Association on Mental Deficiency, the Royal Medico-Psychological Association, the Royal Society of Medicine, and the British Psychological Society, in coöperation with the National Association for Mental Health, London. It attracted 700 delegates from 27 countries.
