| Description | Contains an alphabetically listed collection of photographs of past and present psychologists, groups, BPS conferences, BPS councils in addition to a small amount of other material transferred from collections held in the written archive. In addition the archive contains several video taped interviews of individual psychologists , broadcast video tapes on various subjects, a small collection of slides of psychologists and c 40 Psychology Live DVDs (plus CD guide).
Also included is A/V equipment including: TV, Tape recorders, Video/DVD , micro-recording machines and headphones which were purchased for the British Psychological Society's Oral History Project from the Grace Rawlings' fund.

| AdminHistory | Miss Grace Rawlings died on 12th August 1988 and left the Society a legacy with no specific instructions. It was proposed that this legacy was used to fund a visual library to obtain, collect and preserve items of a visual nature that pertain to British Psychology and Psychologists and to maintain records of their subjects for publication and research purposes. The Visual Archive's original object was to 'obtain, collect and preserve items of a visual nature that pertain to British Psychology and psychologists and to maintain records of their subjects and of their availability for publication and research purposes'.The BPS council appointed Dr Halla Beloff as the Society's first Honorary Visual Archivist at the meeting of 24th February 1990. The archive and its functions were transferred to London ( John Street) in 2004 and transferred back to Leicester in 2006 when the HoPC relocated from John Street. In September 2006 the material returned to the Society's London office in Tabernacle Street. |
